Apparently the server I was using (er - had borrowed) from my office was configured with Windows 2010 Embedded and not a 'standard' version of Windows. It seems like I need XP in order to get Cache 5.0 or 5.2 to work properly - so that's what I'm going to try next - but I need to get access to an XP install disk first...
